They say music saves lives and everyone knows the value of songs. Since I love music since I can remember and I know a million songs in my head so I guess why not do a music blog?
Listening to music is always a constant for me. Whatever I do I always have earphones plugged in to my ears with kick-ass music to accompany me through the day.
Enter my music library which has 15,516 songs, and counting, so far. It’s surreal right? I know. I am one crazy music junkie. I’ll pick eight songs, because it’s my favorite number, I’m listening to at the moment and list ‘em up and share for your auditory pleasure.
To be honest, sometimes when I hear a beautiful song I just want it to be mine because it just sucks when a lot of people discover it and suddenly it is playing on the airwaves of some jologs radio station as it goes mainstream.
I’ve always been possessive with the awesome bands and songs that I know and like and I have this aversion towards mainstream stuff so I prefer my music to remain under the radar. But what the hell right? Right. Great music are meant to be heard and meant to be shared.
I’ll try to do this as much as I can. I’ll post it both on my facebook and on the blog itself.
I don’t listen to crap music. You know what I’m talking about here. If you expect some Lady Gaga or some boy bands or some rap that has only one theme, you won’t find it here. I’m sharing music that makes sense here. I’m sharing real music here.
If you’re tired of crappy music on the radio here, I can help you address that problem.
On to the music now. Here are the first eight offerings for my first post. Listen to them, download them, share them and play them ofcourse. Do whatever you please.
It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over by Lenny Kravitz
(Mama Said – 1991)
‘’ How many times did we give up? / But we always worked things out’’
- A blast from the 90s here. This is a cool song. Usually Lenny Kravitz’s songs aren’t that deep in lyrics but they are all kick-ass. This song helped him solidify his place in the music industry.
Uncharted by Sara Bareilles
(Kaleidoscope Heart – 2010)
‘’I’m going down / follow if you want I won’t just hang around / Like you’ll show me where to go I’m already out / Foolproof ideas so don’t ask me how to get started / It’s all uncharted’’
- Have you watched the music video of this song? You should. It’s the coolest music video I’ve seen in years. Artists such as Ben Folds, Adam Levine and Josh Groban all doing crazy stuff while singing the song. Video is great but the song is better so listen to it.
32 Flavors by Alana Davis
(Blame It On Me – 1997)
‘’Still there's many who've turned out their porch lights / Just so I would think they were not home / And hid in the dark of their windows / 'Til I'd passed and left them alone’’
- I’m sure people hear this song often on certain 90s program on the radio. A perfect song to listen to when relaxing or driving for that matter. Love its rhythm.
All That You Are by Goo Goo Dolls
(Tranformers 3: Dark Of The Moon Soundtrack – 2011)
‘’And we’ve gone from the edge of our souls made it back to a place we call home / Let your heart sing and tonight, we light up the stars / All That You Are’’
- This song ain’t even a month old but it’s already syncing in. I heard it like six times the past two days on the radio, 99.5 RT, and as usual, John Rzeznik and the Goos did not disappoint. Another phenomenal song from one of my favorite bands. Rzeznik is a music genius.
Pictures Of You by The Cure
(Disintegration -1989)
‘’You were stone white / So delicate lost in the cold / You were always so lost in the dark / Remembering you how you used to be slow drowned’’
- I’m sure this is one of the most underrated the Cure songs. People know Friday I’m In Love and Love Song but I think this song is at that level. Couldn’t stop listening to this the first time I heard it. Disintegration is probably one of the best albums ever. It is that good.
Turbulence by Bowling For Soup
(Fishin’ For Woos – 2011)
‘’And we're all just passengers tonight / And we're all just traveling through our lives / We will reach our destination / So just hang on for the ride / So say a prayer and close your eyes / It’s just a little turbulence’’
- Ofcourse I love songs that talk about realities in life. Since it’s new, I just heard this song a few days ago on the radio and I got hooked up right away. The chorus is the bomb.
Ghost Of Days Gone By by Alter Bridge
(AB III – 2010)
‘’So I sing this song tonight / To the ghost that will not die / And somehow it seems to haunt me till the end’’
- It’s the rainy season and if you’re the one who wants to accompany it with songs about memory lane, this one’s for you. Alter Bridge is one of my favorite bands not because most of its members are from Creed, but because its music is just awesome.
Song of the Day: The Space Between by Dave Matthews Band
(Everyday – 2001)
‘’The Space between the tears we cry / Is the laughter keeps us coming back for more / The Space between the wicked lies we tell / and hope to keep safe from the pain’’
- Come on, who doesn’t know this song? We all know it’s a classic and we all know this song is as beautiful as Angelina Jolie but I just have to post it. I know this one never gets old and we can’t get enough of it. Dave Matthews Band. Enough said.
